Thanks to a grant from MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, Community Food Connections is pleased to announce that Doug Resh and his firm One : Deux International, LLC have been hired to assist us in the role of Coordinator for the Arizona Food Policy Coalition.

One : Deux is an international business consulting firm and Doug holds a B.S. in International Business along with an Executive Masters of Science in Food Marketing from Saint Joseph’s University.  This new position has been created to re-energize the Food Policy Coalition.

We are looking forward over the next few months to developing new programs, partnerships and a policy agenda that the Arizona Food Policy Coalition can actively drive forward towards creating community food security in our state while constructing a thriving environment for local agriculture.

Some of the things that Doug will be looking to accomplish will be to continue the work that the Coalition has already set in motion:

• Leveraging planning and partnerships
• Interaction among state agencies, business and community groups to enhance communications
• Maximizing resources
• Developing measurements for community food security
• Building a 5 – year policy agenda for the Arizona legislature
• Improving strategies that promote local purchase of and increased markets for Arizona agricultural products
• Attendance at 2 coalition meetings – late summer and mid-fall ’07 (more to follow on potential dates and places)
• Set in motion support for additional outlets in favor of small scale farm marketing activities through new partnerships, programs and policy.
